Southport Surf Life Saving Club offers award training for it’s patrolling members or those wishing to gain the qualifications to patrol the beach as a volunteer lifesaver.
There is an expectation that members will commit to Club patrols once they have completed the applicable course. Patrols operate on weekend and public holidays, with the season commencing mid-September and concluding late April/early May each year. On successful completion of the course you will be rostered to a patrol group approximately once per month, for either a morning or afternoon patrol.
The following Skills Maintenance dates have been confirmed for the 2023/24 Season.
If you were not proficient last season, you will need to complete a Timed Pool Swim Assessment and bring this with you to the Skills Maintenance session.
The Participant Handbook provides information to course participants, covering the SLSQ training codes of practice. This includes a number of policies in relation to the training SLSQ provides, as well as your rights and obligations in relation to these courses. All course participants are encouraged to view the Participant Handbook prior to attending a course.
