Southport Surf Life Saving Club offers award training for it’s patrolling members or those wishing to gain the qualifications to patrol the beach as a volunteer lifesaver.
Come along and join the Bronze Medallion/SRC course to understand the lifesaving principles embodied our Core Activities – Community Safety, Health and Fitness, Education and Training, Leadership and Australian CoastSafe Services.
Participants will gain invaluable surf awareness skills, personal survival and escape techniques. Challenge yourself to swim in RIPS, learn about the various rescue techniques for conscious and unconscious patients, learn to use rescue boards and tubes, develop hands on CPR skills and learn Basic First Aid. All providing you a valuable Award that enables you to contribute to the Community and Club with Patrols and Water Safety activities.
There is an expectation that members will commit to Club patrols once they have completed the applicable course. Patrols operate on weekend and public holidays, with the season commencing mid-September and concluding late April/early May each year. On successful completion of the course you will be rostered to a patrol group approximately once per month, for either a morning or afternoon patrol.
Do not be fooled… this is an intense physical course with some minimum requirements.
PLEASE NOTE: You MUST be a member first before registering for a course
