Bequests

Leave a lasting legacy for future generations

For more than 100 years, Southport Surf Life Saving Club has been protecting beachgoers, developing volunteer lifesavers and serving the local community.

A bequest is a gift that is left to a person, organisation or charity through your Will. A gift in your Will is a meaningful way to support the future of our Club and help ensure future generations can continue this important work. Whether large or small, every bequest contributes to the long-term strength of Southport Surf Life Saving Club and the services we provide to our members and community.

By including Southport Surf Life Saving Club in your estate planning, you can help support the future of surf lifesaving on the Gold Coast.

Ways to leave a bequest

Every person’s circumstances are different. There are several ways to leave a bequest to Southport Surf Life Saving Club, giving you the flexibility to create a gift that reflects your wishes and legacy.

  • Many people choose to leave a percentage of their estate. This approach automatically adjusts as the value of the estate changes over time and can provide flexibility for both your beneficiaries and the Club.

    Suggested wording:
I give and bequeath to Southport Surf Life Saving Club Inc., free of all duties, __% of my estate and direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer of the Club shall be sufficient discharge to my Executor for this bequest.

  • You may choose to leave a nominated amount of money or a specific asset, such as property, shares or other items of value.

    Suggested wording:
I give and bequeath to Southport Surf Life Saving Club Inc., free of all duties, the sum of $_____ (or the following asset: ____________) and direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer of the Club shall be sufficient discharge to my Executor for this bequest.

  • Some supporters choose to establish a trust through their Will. This can provide ongoing benefits to family members or other beneficiaries while also supporting Southport Surf Life Saving Club into the future. Professional legal advice should always be obtained when considering this option.

    Suggested wording:
We recommend obtaining independent legal advice regarding the establishment and wording of any trust arrangement within your Will.

  • You may wish to direct your gift towards a particular area of the Club, such as lifesaving equipment, youth development, training programs or facility improvements. Where possible, the Club will always seek to honour your wishes while ensuring your gift delivers lasting community benefit.

    Suggested wording:
I give and bequeath to Southport Surf Life Saving Club Inc. the sum of $_____ for the specific purpose of ____________________. If that purpose is no longer practical or achievable, I request that the gift be applied to a similar purpose that supports the objectives of the Club.
