The Nipper program is for children aged five to thirteen years. Junior activities can be very rewarding, not only for the children but also for the whole family. Nippers are taught many aspects of surf lifesaving, learning important beach and water skills, while enjoying new found friendships that come with belonging to a surf club.
Southport Nipper days are held every Sunday from 8am between the months of September and March, with a break of a few weeks during the Christmas school holidays. Our program is very popular and places fill quickly. Southport Surf Life Saving Club Nippers celebrated its 50th year in early 2017 and we go into the next 50 in a position of strength and unity.
Registrations for Nippers Under 7 through to Under 11 are now closed – these age groups are at their maximum capacity. Apologies for any disappointment.
All Returning Nippers please submit renewal applications without delay to guarantee your place in Southport Nippers for the 2017/18 season – renewal information can be found in the links below:
The ‘Get Started’ Grant is one of three funding programs that comprise the QLD Government Sport and Recreation’s ‘Get in the Game’ initiative, aimed at helping Clubs grow by providing better sport and recreation activities at a grassroots level, and giving children who might not otherwise be able to afford it, the chance to get involved in sport.
The Southport Surf Life Saving Club has a limited number of foamies available to hire this season. If your Nipper is attending board training or carnivals they will need to have their own board or an allocated rental from the Club. Board rental requests need to be submitted to the Lifesaving Office with payment.
